Once you have selected a template layout for your newsletter, you can customize sections, format text, insert imagery, add hyperlinks, and preview how the newsletter renders on computers and mobile devices before choosing recipients.
đĄ CMS Newsletters vs. Direct Email: This guide covers the Newsletters publication tool in Edlio CMS (located under Communications > Newsletters). Edlio CMS does not support direct one-off emailing; Newsletters are structured, multi-section broadcast publications delivered to designated Contact Lists and automated subscriber groups.
Adding content to newsletter sections
Selecting layout sections and editing blocks
Edlio newsletters are structured into modular content sections based on your chosen layout template:
Select a section: Under First select a section, click on the specific zone of the template (such as the header, sidebar, or main body column) where you want to add or modify content.
Insert and format content: Under Then edit its content, use the rich text editor to write text, format headings, change font styling (bold, italic, underline, color), insert bulleted lists, and embed hyperlinks.
Add images: Use the media controls to upload and embed graphics, flyers, or photos directly into the active section.
đĄ Changing Layouts: If you decide during drafting that a different column arrangement or news-integrated template would better fit your message, click the Change Layout button in the bottom-left corner. Any text you have already typed will carry over to compatible layout zones.
Previewing your newsletter
Inspecting desktop and mobile layouts
Before proceeding to select recipients or schedule delivery, always review how your email will display across different screen sizes. Click Preview Newsletter (or Preview Newsletter) in the top-right corner to open the preview modal:
The preview window displays both views side-by-side:
Desktop View (Left): Shows the wide-screen rendering typical of desktop email clients (Outlook, Apple Mail, webmail).
Mobile Smartphone View (Right): Simulates how the newsletter renders on iOS and Android devices, allowing you to ensure font sizes, image scaling, and single-column responsive stacking look clean and legible on mobile screens.
Click Return to Newsletter to exit the preview window and resume editing.
Next steps: Recipients and delivery
