Events page blocks allow you to display your school's calendar events directly on any page of your website. This feature seamlessly integrates your Edlio calendar with your website content, making it easy for visitors to see upcoming events alongside other important information.
How to Add Events to a Page
Follow these simple steps to add an events block to any page:
Step 1: Access the Pages Section Navigate to the Pages area of your content management platform.
Step 2: Add a New Page Block Click the "Add" button to create a new page block.
Step 3: Select Events Block Type In the Add Page Block modal window, select "Events" from the available options.
Step 4: Choose Your Calendar From the dropdown menu, select the calendar you want to display on the page. Once you've made your selection, click "Save."
Step 5: Save Your Page After adding the events block, the list of events will automatically appear on your page. Remember to save the page to make your changes live.
Viewing Your Events Block
Once added, your events will display differently depending on who is viewing your site:
Admin View: When logged in as an administrator, you'll see the events block with editing capabilities
Public View: Visitors to your website will see a clean, user-friendly display of your events
Adding Events to Page Sidebars
Events blocks aren't limited to the main content area. You can also add events to the sidebar section of your page for a more compact display that doesn't interfere with your main content.
Controlling the Number of Events Displayed
The number of events shown in your events block is controlled by the "Number of Homepage Items" setting found in Settings > Calendars. This setting applies to the specific calendar you selected when creating the events block. To change how many events appear, adjust this setting for the relevant calendar.
Important Security Considerations
If you're using a calendar that's located in a password-protected area of your site, you'll see a warning message when adding the events block. This is important to understand because:
Events added to page blocks are visible to all website visitors
Even if the original calendar page is password-protected, the events will show publicly in the page block
To maintain privacy, ensure that pages containing protected calendar events are also password-protected
When working with sensitive event information, always verify that your page privacy settings match your calendar's protection level to maintain appropriate access control.
