Add link blocks on pages

Updated over 2 months ago

Link Blocks allow you to organize and display groups of related links on any page of your school website. These blocks pull content directly from your Links feature, making it easy to maintain consistent navigation and resources across your site.

Adding a Link Block to Your Page

Step 1: Navigate to Your Page Go to the page where you want to add links.

Step 2: Open the Add Block Menu Click the "Add" button to open the Add Page Block modal.

The block will automatically show all links that have been added to that specific topic in your Links feature.

Important Placement Guidelines

  • Hero Area: Only one Links block can be placed in the top hero area of any page. Reserve this prime location for your most important navigation links.

  • Other Areas: You can add unlimited Link Blocks to the side panel and main column areas of your pages.

Customizing Your Link Block Display

Once you've added a Link Block, you can customize how it appears to visitors.

Access Settings Click the gear icon on your Link Block to open the Links Block Settings.

Button Color Recommendations

When selecting button colors, keep these tips in mind:

  • If your links include colorful icons, white button backgrounds work best for readability

  • Button colors match your site's design theme

  • White buttons are always available as a neutral choice

  • If you only see black and white options, contact Edlio Support for additional colors

Managing Your Links Content

Changing Topics Later You can switch to a different links topic at any time by clicking "Select Links Topic" on your existing block.

Updating Individual Links To modify the specific links that appear in your block, use the Links feature rather than editing the block itself. Changes made in the Links feature will automatically update across all pages using that topic.

Best Practices for Success

Strategic Placement Position your most important navigation links in a Link Block at the top of your page or in the hero area where visitors will see them first.

Visual Consistency When using colorful icons, select white button backgrounds to ensure your links remain easy to read and professional-looking.

Efficient Content Management Create reusable link topics for common resources like lunch menus, parent resources, or student tools. This saves time when you need to update information across multiple pages.

By following these guidelines, you'll create an organized, user-friendly navigation system that helps visitors quickly find the information they need on your school website.
