Frequently Asked Questions for the Photos feature

Updated over 3 months ago

Can I get a link to a specific photo in the Photos feature?

Currently, you can only create direct links to entire photo albums (not to individual photos). To get the shareable URL for a photo album:

  1. Go to your website's public view

  2. Navigate to the "Photos" feature

  3. Browse to your desired photo album

  4. Copy the complete URL from your browser's address bar

This URL can then be shared via email, text message, or posted on other pages of your website to provide direct access to the album.

Can I move photos from one photo album to another photo album?

Yes! You can easily transfer photos between albums in your Edlio website using the cut and paste functionality. Here's a step-by-step guide:

  1. Open the source album - Navigate to the album containing the photos you want to move

  2. Select your photos - Check the boxes next to all images you wish to transfer

  3. Cut the selected photos - Click the "Cut" button in the toolbar (this temporarily stores your selected photos)

  4. Navigate to the destination - Open the album where you want the photos to appear

  5. Complete the transfer - Click the "Paste" button to move the photos to their new location

Pro Tips:

  • You can select multiple photos at once for efficient batch transfers

  • The original photos will be removed from the source album after the move is complete

  • This process works for moving photos between any albums, including nested sub-albums

  • Your photos retain all their properties during the move, including captions and alt text

I uploaded new photos but they do not appear on the live site.

If you've uploaded new photos to your Edlio photo albums but they aren't displaying on your public website, the most common cause is related to accessibility requirements:

Missing Alt Text Is Likely the Issue

Your website may have the ADA compliance feature enabled, which prevents photos without proper accessibility information from displaying publicly. This feature helps ensure your website remains accessible to all visitors, including those using screen readers.

How to Fix the Problem:

  1. Log in to your Edlio admin dashboard

  2. Navigate to your photo albums and locate the photos that aren't displaying

  3. Click on each invisible photo to open its editing options

  4. Add appropriate Alt text in the designated field

    • Keep descriptions brief but descriptive

  5. Save your changes for each photo

  6. Refresh your public website - your photos should now be visible

Where is my photo gallery located on the public website?

Your Edlio photo gallery has a consistent location across all Edlio-powered websites, making it easy to access and share:

Direct URL Structure

The photo gallery is always available at the /apps/albums/ path of your website's domain. For example:

  • If your school website is myschool.org, your complete photo gallery URL would be: myschool.org/apps/albums/
