Edit your site footer (image, text, links)

How to update your site footer: most changes require a support ticket, but some elements (Links, contact info) are self-serve.

Your site footer

The footer is the section at the very bottom of every page on your site — typically containing your school address, contact info, copyright, and sometimes social media icons or quick links.

How you change something in the footer depends on what you're trying to change. Most of the footer is part of your site's design and requires a support ticket, but a few elements ARE self-serve:

What you can edit yourself

  • Social media icons in the footer — if they're set up as Links, you can edit, add, remove, or reorder them yourself. See Links Overview and the social media article.

  • Address and phone number — if your footer displays these from Settings → Contact, update them there. See Settings FAQs.

  • Links — if your footer has a row of Links (like Useful Links, Accessibility Policy, Quicklinks or Helpful Resources), those are editable from the Links area.

Tip: The fastest way to tell if something in the footer is self-serve is to look for it in your CMS admin. Check Links first; then check Settings → Contact. If you don't see it in either place, it's part of the theme and requires a support ticket.

What requires a support ticket

These elements of the footer are part of your site's design and aren't editable from the CMS admin:

  • Footer image or background — the photo, color, or pattern behind the footer content

  • Footer logo — the footer logo is the same asset as your site (header) logo. Updating the site logo updates the footer logo at the same time. See Update your site logo and header image for what to include in the ticket.

  • Footer layout — column structure, spacing, fonts, colors

  • Copyright text — the year, school name, or legal text at the very bottom

  • Custom text blocks — accreditation statements, mission tagline, district disclaimer, etc.

  • Hard-coded social bars or feeds — see the social media article for how to tell.

ℹ️ For these changes, open a support ticket through Eddy. See How to submit a support ticket via Eddy for the full walkthrough.

Include in your ticket:

  • Your school or district name and website URL

  • What you want changed (footer image, text block, copyright, etc.)

  • The new content or image file (attach to the ticket)

  • Where on the footer it should go (left column, center, bottom strip, etc.)

  • A screenshot of the current footer marked up with what you want changed

Image specifications (for footer images)

If you're providing a new footer image or logo variant, follow the same guidelines as for the site logo:

  • Format: PNG with transparency for logos; JPG for background photos.

  • Resolution: High resolution (at least 2x display size) for crisp display on retina screens.

  • File size: Under 1 MB if possible — compress with TinyPNG or similar.

  • Vector source (SVG, AI, EPS): Send the vector original of any logo if you have it.
