Spotlight Messages Overview

Spotlight Messages are dedicated content blocks that highlight important information on your school website. Once a spotlight is on your site, you can edit and update it yourself anytime.

Common uses for spotlight messages:

  • Mission and Vision — your school's core statement, often on the About page

  • Principal's Message — welcome message or recurring update from school leadership

  • Teacher or Student Spotlight — recognize achievements or features rotating staff/students

  • Graduation Spotlight — celebrate graduating classes, seasonal events, or commencement details

  • Welcome Messages — back-to-school greetings, special event announcements

  • Non-Discrimination Statements — required policy text in a visible, prominent format

  • About Us Sections — short school history or community description on landing pages

What can you do yourself

Once spotlight messages are on your site, you have full self-serve control to:

Adding a new spotlight message

Placing a new spotlight on a specific page or location currently requires a support ticket. To request a new spotlight, open a ticket via Eddy, Edlio's AI support assistant — see how to submit a ticket via Eddy for the full walkthrough.

Include the following in your request:

  • The URL for the page where you want the spotlight to appear

  • The location on the page (top, sidebar, below specific content, etc.)

  • The title and initial message text

  • Any photos or files to include (optional — you can also add these yourself after the spotlight is created)

💡 Best practice: Spotlight Messages work best for content that should stand out from the regular page flow. If you have content that fits naturally inline with your other page content, a standard page block may be a better fit than a spotlight.
