Overview
The Edlio CMS provides different access levels to help you manage responsibilities and focus users on their specific website areas. This article explains the various user account types and their capabilities.
User Account Levels
1. Admin-Level Accounts
Super Administrators
Available on websites purchased from August 2023 onwards
Can add, remove, and edit both super administrator and website administrator accounts
Have the same website privileges as website administrators
Should be limited to your most trusted team members
Legacy Admin Account
For websites purchased before August 2023
Identified by the username "admin"
The only account that can manage website administrators
Otherwise has the same privileges as website administrators
Best used only when you need to manage website administrators
2. Website Administrators
Trusted individuals who help manage the entire website and update regular user accounts
To designate someone as a website administrator:
Log in with the super admin account
Check the "Website Administrators" box in their profile
3. Standard User Accounts
Default account type for new users
Limited to managing their assigned areas (pages, photos, videos, calendar)
Can be granted access to specific categories, features, and password-protected areas
4. Minimal Access User Accounts
Cannot access the admin site
Unable to create or edit content
Can still appear in the staff directory
Can access password-protected areas if authorized

User Type Designations
You can assign users to one or more user types to fine-tune their roles and responsibilities on the website.
Best Practices
Change default passwords immediately
Update passwords regularly
Limit super administrators to 1-2 people
Only use the "admin" account when managing website administrators
Never share the admin account
Limit website administrators to 3-5 people
Delegate site sections appropriately (department chairs, club advisors, coaches, etc.)
Use unique email addresses for all accounts (required for password resets)
