Move a page

Updated over 2 months ago

Sometimes you may need to reorganize your website by moving pages to different sections or categories. This guide will walk you through the simple process of moving pages within your content management platform.

What You Need to Know Before Moving Pages

Before you begin, keep these important points in mind:

  • Personal Pages cannot be moved to Category Pages, and Category Pages cannot be moved to Personal Pages

  • Categories must have sections to appear as available destinations in the move menu

  • Once moved, you'll be automatically redirected to the new location to continue editing

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Access Your Pages

Start by logging into your admin site and navigating to the Pages section. This is where you'll find all of your website's pages organized by categories and sections.

Step 2: Locate the Page to Move

Browse through your pages and find the specific page you want to relocate. Pages are typically organized by categories to make them easier to find.

Step 3: Open the Move Option

Once you've found your page, look for the three dots (...) icon on the right side of the page listing. Click on this icon to reveal a dropdown menu with various page management options.

From the dropdown menu, select "Move" to begin the relocation process.

Step 4: Choose Your New Destination

A popup window will appear showing you all available destinations where you can move your page. This menu will display:

  • Available categories that have sections

  • The current organizational structure of your website

Important: Only categories that contain sections will appear in this dropdown menu. If you don't see a category you're looking for, make sure it has at least one section created.

After selecting your desired destination from the dropdown menu, click the "Move" button to finalize the relocation.

What Happens After Moving

Once you've successfully moved your page, the system will automatically take you to the new location. This allows you to immediately continue editing your page or verify that it's been placed in the correct section.

The page will now appear in its new location within your website's navigation structure, and any existing links or references will be updated accordingly.

Tips for Successful Page Management

  • Plan your website structure before moving multiple pages to avoid confusion

  • Check your navigation menus after moving pages to ensure they still make sense for your visitors

  • Test moved pages to make sure they display correctly in their new location

  • Communicate changes with other administrators or content editors on your team

Moving pages is a powerful way to keep your school website organized and ensure that information is easy for parents, students, and staff to find.
