This guide will help you customize how news stories appear on your school website by configuring the display of publish dates and social sharing buttons.
Getting Started
To access your news settings:
Navigate to Site Management > Settings
Click on the News tab
Displaying Publish Dates
When you enable publish dates, visitors to your website will be able to see when each news story was published, making it easier to identify recent updates and announcements.
To show publish dates:
Locate the "Show Entry Date" setting
Set it to "Yes"
Once enabled, the publish date will appear in two locations:
On your main news page (at
/apps/news/
) alongside each story titleOn individual story pages below the headline
This helps parents, students, and community members quickly identify the most recent news and updates from your school.
Adding Social Sharing Buttons
Social sharing buttons allow visitors to easily share your school's news stories on Facebook and Twitter, helping extend your reach and engagement within the school community.
To enable social sharing:
Find the "Show Social Network Sharing Buttons" setting
Set it to "Yes"
When activated, social sharing buttons will appear in the same locations as publish dates:
On your main news page next to each story
On individual story pages
These buttons make it simple for parents and community members to share important school announcements, achievements, and events with their networks.
Important Notes
Changes to these settings will apply to all existing and future news stories
Both settings work independently - you can choose to enable one, both, or neither depending on your school's preferences
The settings affect both the main news listing page and individual story pages consistently
