Can I add top-level site navigation tabs?
Can I add top-level site navigation tabs?
Yes! Website administrators can add top-level navigation tabs directly without contacting Support.
To add a new top-level item:
Scroll to the bottom of the Site Navigation screen
Click the Add Top Level Item button
Enter the name and configure your new navigation item
We recommend keeping your top-level navigation to 5–8 items. Adding too many tabs can crowd the navigation bar — especially on smaller screens — making it harder for visitors to scan and find what they need. If you're running out of room, consider grouping related pages under a single tab with sub-menu items instead.
How many items should I include in a dropdown menu?
How many items should I include in a dropdown menu?
We recommend keeping each dropdown to around 7–10 items. Longer lists can be difficult to scan, easy to lose your place in, and harder to navigate — especially on mobile devices and for visitors using a keyboard or screen reader. If a dropdown is getting crowded, consider splitting the content across multiple top-level tabs or using sub-menu groupings to keep things organized and easy to find.
Can I create sub-menus or a multi-level hierarchy?
Can I create sub-menus or a multi-level hierarchy?
Yes — you can organize pages with parent items and up to two sub-levels (3 levels total). Drag and drop pages in and out of submenus with visual guides, or use the action menu's Make parent item and Make sub item options.
See Creating Sub-menus for Page Sections for the full walkthrough.
Accessibility Note: Use sub-levels sparingly, as they are harder for keyboard-only and screen reader users to navigate. Deeply nested menus require more tab stops and can make it difficult for users to understand where they are in the navigation hierarchy. For the best experience, keep your menu as flat as possible and reserve sub-levels for cases where grouping genuinely helps users find content.

To remove an item temporarily, you'll need to delete it and recreate it when you're ready to make it visible again. There is no draft or hide state for navigation items.

Pages and Site Navigation work independently. When you create a new page, it won't automatically appear in your site navigation — you'll need to add it manually. See Add a section or page to site navigation.

I added an item to site navigation, but it sends me back into the admin site and asks me to log in
If clicking a link on your public website takes you to the admin site, you've accidentally linked to the admin URL instead of the public page URL. To fix this, replace the link with your page's public URL.
I added a page to site navigation, but it isn't directing me to the correct page on the public website
I added a page to site navigation, but it isn't directing me to the correct page on the public website
This usually stems from how the navigation is configured. When you link to a page section, the system automatically shows the first page listed in that section within the admin site. To correct this, update your site navigation settings to point directly to the individual page's public URL instead of using the section URL.
I deleted a site navigation tab/item — how can I restore it?
I deleted a site navigation tab/item — how can I restore it?
The site navigation feature does not include version history or backup functionality. You'll need to manually restore deleted items by recreating them in the navigation settings.
Does my theme support mega menus (images in dropdowns)?
Does my theme support mega menus (images in dropdowns)?
Mega menu support is theme-dependent. If your "Edit Link" panel includes an Additional Content section, your theme likely supports them — see Mega Menus. If it doesn't appear, your current theme doesn't include this feature; contact the Client Success team at [email protected] to ask about theme options.. If you have Mega menus but are having trouble editing, open a ticket via Eddy for support.
