URL redirects allow you to create short, easy-to-remember links that automatically send visitors to pages with longer, more complex web addresses. This is especially useful for sharing links in newsletters, flyers, or announcements where you want people to easily remember and type the web address.
When to Use Redirects
Redirects are perfect for creating memorable links such as:
www.yourschool.com/lunch β takes visitors to your full lunch menu page
www.yourschool.com/calendar β redirects to your events and calendar page
www.yourschool.com/apply β sends families to your enrollment application
www.yourschool.com/newsletter β links to your latest school newsletter
Creating a New Redirect
Follow these simple steps to set up a redirect:
Step 1: Start the Process
Click the New Redirect button located in the top right corner of your screen.
Step 2: Fill Out the Redirect Information
A window will appear with two fields to complete:
First field (Friendly URL): Type the short, memorable web address you want people to use. This should be simple and easy to remember.
Example:
/lunch
or/calendar
Second field (Destination URL): Enter the full web address where you want visitors to be sent when they use your short link.
Example: The complete URL of your lunch menu page
Step 3: Save Your Redirect
Once both fields are completed, save your redirect. The new short link will work immediately and visitors can start using it right away.
Important Notes
The system automatically adds a "/" to the end of your URL, but visitors can access your redirect both with and without this slash
For example, both
www.yourschool.com/alumni/
andwww.yourschool.com/alumni
will work the same way
Example in Action
If you create a redirect where:
Friendly URL:
/alumni
Destination:
https://www.yourschool.com/our-school/alumni-association/alumni-news-and-events
Then when someone types www.yourschool.com/alumni
in their browser, they'll automatically be taken to your full alumni page without having to remember or type the longer address.
