A Shuffle is a rotating image slideshow that appears on your homepage. Each shuffle holds multiple slides; the slideshow cycles through them automatically on the public site. Shuffles are a self-serve homepage feature — you manage them yourself from the admin dashboard.
Tap the thumbnail or name of the shuffle you wish to modify
It will open to the first slide in the shuffle
What you can do on a shuffle
For each slide, you can:
Crop and rotate the image — control how much of the photo shows in the slideshow
Add a link — make the slide clickable so visitors land on a page when they tap it on the public site
Add a caption — overlay text on the slide and choose where it appears (top, bottom, etc.)
Add alt text — describe the image for screen-reader users and keep the slide accessible
See Edit slides: crop, link, caption, and alt tag for the full walkthrough.
For the whole shuffle, you can:
Manage the shuffle's behavior on the public website (transitions, timing, random order)
Tap View on Live Site to open the shuffle's location on the public website in a new tab. Saved changes won't appear on the public site until you refresh the browser.
Accessibility note: Every slide in a Shuffle needs alt text. If a slide is missing alt text, it will not appear on the public website — instead, the admin dashboard shows an "Alt text missing" warning on the shuffle. Add concise, descriptive alt text for each slide (what the image shows, not "image of…"). This keeps your shuffle accessible to screen-reader users and ensures every slide is actually visible to visitors.
Using Edlio AI? If your school is on Edlio AI, alt text for your shuffle slides is auto-generated — you don't have to write it manually. To learn more or get your school added, email [email protected].
